About

Hi, I’m Elizabeth and a new-ish Buddhist. I don’t claim to be an expert, I’m not a monk. I’m just an ordinary person who was seeking something different from religion and found a home with Buddhism.

I’m not out to convert anyone or denigrate other faiths. At times I may write about my experience with them, but again just my experience. Respectful discussions involving other religions and atheism are more than welcome.

I decided to start this blog as an outlet for my thoughts, and journey incorporating Buddhism into my life. I especially wanted to write about how I am applying it to my business – I didn’t find many other sources of information about this. I would love to connect with others who are in a similar place in life.

Sonnenbrise is German for sun-breeze. It is connected to a key moment for me.

Topics

I reserve the right to add more.. but just these three will keep me busy writing for years to come!

Business

Right Livelihood is one of the precepts in the Noble Eightfold Path. Originally, Buddha taught that one should not partake in 5 types of businesses. But in modern times, it has been expanded to include how we conduct business.

Science

Like many Westerners, I came to Buddhism through meditation. Western science supports the benefits of meditation for our mental and physical health. Buddhism also intersects many other areas of science, such as ecosystems, connectivity, and much more.

Growth

I admit to reading more than my fair share of self-help books. Some were very helpful, some less so. The ones that helped me the most had parallels in Buddhist approaches to our life and how we interact with the world.

Permission to Market

Marketing and Buddhism I was not a Buddhist when I started my marketing business. Would I have chosen a different path if I was? I don't think so. I think the two can be compatible - whether or not my clients or their customers are Buddhist. At first blush, the two...

Why Buddhism?

Why Buddhism?

Why did I convert to Buddhism? I grew up with Christianity - my mom was Lutheran, dad was Baptist, and we went to a non-denominational church when I was young. I always struggled with it though. I always had questions that no one could or would answer. While I don't...
